Drift Specialty Instructor


Philosophy

Drift Diver Specialty is designed to be an introduction to drift diving and to help the student diver develop the skills, knowledge and techniques necessary for drift diving.

Priorities in the course:

  • the planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of drift diving,
  • special equipment like floats, lines & reels,
  • proper procedures for buoyancy-control, navigation and communication,
  • site selection and overview of aquatic currents, causes and effects,
  • techniques for staying close to a buddy or together as a group.
Prerequisites

Be a renewed PADI Assistant Instructor (or higher rating) or have completed an IDC/OWSI within the last 12 months.

Duration

One day including one open water dive.

  • PADI Specialty Drift Diving Student Manual,
  • PADI Specialty Instructor Outline for Drift Diving,
  • in additionto to your dive gear also a SMB.
