Philosophy
Ice Diver course is designed to be an introduction to ice diving and to help the
student diver develop the skills, knowledge and techniques necessary for ice diving.
The Ice Diver Specialty course is intended and designed to be a supervised introduction
to diving under ice. Training should emphasize fun and safety.
Priorities in the course:
- the planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of ice diving.
- site selection, preparation and hole-cutting procedures.
- special equipment, safety lines, signals, communications, line tending and line-securing techniques.
- effects of cold, emergency procedures and safety-diver procedures.
We offer this Specialty Instructor Course in our

Prerequisites
Be a renewed PADI Assistant Instructor (or higher rating) or have completed an IDC/OWSI within the last 12 months.
Duration
One day including two open water dive.
Materials
- Ice Diver Specialty Instructor Outline,
- Additional to your other dive gear: uw light, two separate first stages, drysuit, dry gloves,
- Adequate exposure protection for surface (out of the water).
