Wreck Specialty Instructor


Philosophy

This course is designed to be an introduction to wreck diving and to help divers diver develop the skills, knowledge and techniques necessary for a safe participation in wreck diving.

The goal of the Wreck Diver course is to teach divers a systematic, methodical approach to enjoying wreck diving. They will develop the techniques involved in wreck diving within recreational limits and while avoiding disturbing delicate marine life.

Priorities in the course:

  • planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of wreck diving,
  • preparation and use of lights, air supplies, special equipment, penetration lines and reels,
  • limited visibility diving techniques and emergency procedures.
Prerequisites

Be a renewed PADI Assistant Instructor (or higher rating) or have completed an IDC/OWSI within the last 12 months.

Duration

One day including two open water wreck dives.

  • PADI Wreckdiving Specialty Student Manual,
  • PADI Specialty Instructor Outline for Wreck Diving,
  • in addition to your standard dive gear also a reel, torch and if applicable gloves.
