Philosophy
The Tec 40 Diver course is an entry level tec course using a single decompression gas. It is
the highest level that can be completed using single cylinder configuration. It is the bridge
between recreational and technical diving and a prerequisite for Tec 45 Diver training.
After the course, using the same equipment configuration they used during the course,
Tec 40 Divers plan and make decompression dives with not more than 10 minutes of
decompression using a decompression gas, or not more than 15 minutes of
decompression using bottom gas, and not deeper than 40 metres/130 feet.
Dive with a redundant gas source, either single cylinder plus bailout cylinder, sidemount or back mount doubles.
Use a single cylinder of decompression gas with up to 50 percent oxygen for decompression.
Divers participating in the Tec 40 Trimix course can also make dives using trimix with not less than 21 percent
oxygen and not more than 35 percent helium.

Equipment
Full tec equipment with single cylinder or double cylinder configuration with one deco cylinder.
Two complete regulators: two first stages, each with a second stage, one with a two metre hose and one with SPG. A regulator for deco cylinder.
Wing type BCD with harness and attachment points for deco cylinders with sufficient lift to keep the diver’s head out of the water at the surface.

two bottom timers with a dive plan and backup dive plan. Exposure suit appropriate for environment and dive duration.
Also, backup mask, visual and audible surface signaling devices, reel or spool (two recommended), DSMB or lift bag (two recommended), knife or cutting device and backup,
